In countries like Kenya, the travel season is expected until January 15, 2025, comprising the surge in both Christmas/ New Year’s and school holiday travel.

Bus booking platform, BuuPass, has announced rewards for travelers by making their journeys more connected this festive season.

The company said it is offering data bonuses for customers booking through its platform. First-time users will receive 150MB of free mobile data upon their initial booking, with an additional 100MB of free data awarded for return trips, it said in a statement.

“The holiday season is a time of connection, and we want to make those connections easier and more affordable,” said Sonia Kabra, co-founder at Buupass.

“Offering our customers free data is just one way we’re showing our appreciation for travelers and making their journeys smoother.” The digital mobility platform said it is continuously innovating to improve travel experiences across East Africa.

From expanding route networks to enhancing digital booking capabilities, BuuPass said it has demonstrated a commitment to making travel more accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for customers.

It said the campaign is particularly timely, offering travelers additional value during a season when staying connected is key. Whether visiting family, exploring new destinations, or traveling for business, BuuPass customers can now enjoy the added benefit of free mobile data, it said in a statement.

“This special promotion spans the entire holiday season and is available across BuuPass’s comprehensive network throughout Kenya and East Africa. Travelers are encouraged to book their trips through the BuuPass platform to take advantage of this limited-time offer,” the company said.

In response to the spike in travel during the Christmas and school holiday season, many bus companies have introduced additional routes. Kenya Railways also introduced two additional train trips between Nairobi and Kisumu. The revised schedule will run through January 15, 2025.
