By combining BuuPass’ user-friendly platform with mTek’s insurance solutions, the partnership creates a seamless and secure booking experience.

Customers can now purchase mTek’s trip insurance directly from the BuuPass platform when booking their bus tickets.

The insurance covers accidents and medical emergencies, offering financial protection and support in case of unforeseen incidents.

Purchasing mTek’s trip insurance is easy, as it is integrated directly into the BuuPass booking procedure. Simply opt-in and enter your date of birth (DOB) during the booking process.

The Ksh 30 insurance fee is automatically added to the final ticket cost, ensuring you pay once for both your travel and insurance coverage.

For just Ksh 30, travelers are covered for medical expenses up to Ksh 50,000, accidental death coverage of Ksh 200,000, permanent and total disability coverage of Ksh 200,000, and ambulance services up to Ksh 15,000.

Public transportation is the most used mode of travel by the majority of Kenyans, with buses being the preferred option for upcountry trips. In 2022 alone, 11,969 minibuses (15-33 seaters) and 11,699 buses (34 and above seaters) were issued road transport licenses.

According to the Economic Survey 2024 by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), road transportation
generated Ksh2.6 billion in 2023, with passenger traffic accounting for Ksh1.4 billion.

The survey also reports 9,960 road accidents in 2023, resulting in 10,762 serious injuries. With this partnership, Kenyans can protect themselves and their assets from unforeseen expenses, such as expensive medical costs and disabilities, ensuring peace of mind during their travels.
